About NAAIMCAS

The Nigerian Alumni Association of the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAAIMCAS) is an association of professionals of Nigerian origin who received their PhD training in the prestigious Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenyang, China. Members have vast training and research experience and hold faculty and research positions in different parts of the world.
Founded in 2015, the association serves as a platform that connects alumni across different graduating classes, professional fields, and regions of the world.

Since its formation, NAAIMCAS has grown steadily with the goal of strengthening relationships among graduates and fostering meaningful contributions to the development of the institution and society. Over the years, the association has successfully organized:

  • Community outreach and development projects
  • Fundraising and institutional support drives

To engage IMR-CAS and its alumni in a mutually beneficial community needed for the global advancement of science, technology and engineering.

Mission Statement

To establish a link between NAAIMCAS (the Association) and IMR-CAS (our alma mater) towards promoting, sustaining, strengthening, and fostering a cordial and beneficial relationship between both parties with the ultimate aim of creating an enabling environment for research collaborations and exchange programs for cutting edge researches.

Our Objectives

The objectives of the Association are as follows;

  • To foster collaboration and interpersonal relationships among members.
  • To establish a working relationship between the Association and the international alumni of IMR-CAS headquartered in China.
  • To encourage and assist Nigerian scholars and intending graduate students to have links/accesses to international scholarships and funding.
  • To establish a virtual laboratory which can be included as an affiliation where members can report research results together.
  • To use the alumni affiliation to source for funds for research and educational activities (such as conferences, seminars, social meetings, etc.).
  • To render scholarly services that enhances the image of IMR-CAS and the alumni.
  • To encourage and support the actualization of IMR-CAS international strategic goals.

Leadership & Structure

The Alumni Association is managed by a duly elected Executive Committee responsible for strategic leadership and operations of the association.

The structure typically includes:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • General Secretary
  • Financial Secretary
  • Welfare Officer
  • Ex-Officio Members

Elections are conducted bi-annually in accordance with the association’s constitution.

Membership

Membership of NAAIMCAS is open to:

  • All Nigerian graduates of the Institute of Metal Research Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMR-CAS)
  • Honorary members approved by the Association
  • Associate members as defined in the constitution

All members are required to register on this platform to enjoy full access to alumni services.

The Alumni Association plays a critical role in:
